Prenatal Pregnancy Principles
Prenatal yoga improves your mood, can reduce pregnancy anxiety by helping to clear your head and brings you into a state of physical and spiritual awareness. It also encourages women to become aware and comfortable with their ever-changing bodies. The following are principal reminders to keep you present and connected during your pregnancy and yoga practice:
Mindfulness: Being in the moment and embracing what is.
Groundation: Birth is about connection to the earth.
Balance of Energies: Effort and surrender, yin and yang, night and day.
Mind, Body, Spirit Connection: Heightened awareness, intuition, physical presence, connection to the baby.
Mama Glow: Unconditional and expansive love, expanding heart, shining forth.
Compassion: Empathy will expand your world—honoring yourself, the baby, and showing compassion for others.
Non-violence: Ahimsa, non-aggressive yoga practice as well as approach to life, being gentle, non-aggressive obstetric practices.
Contentment: Look within yourself for happiness; be happy with where you are in your life and pregnancy.
Gratitude: There’s only one prayer, that of thanks. When you’re in a place of hardship, give thanks.
The Joy of Giving: Operate from a place of abundance. There’s always enough: just give, give and give.
The Limit: Pushing beyond Discomfort: Birthing is intense, move through it with your breath and accept the discomfort.
Tuning Inside: Inward listening, going deep within by turning the senses inward.
Mantra: Use powerful words, phrases and affirmations.
Sound and Music: Connect with your internal animal. Use low, deep, opening sounds to soothe and help move the baby down.
Service: You must be flexible, open and completely surrender to the needs of your baby. It’s not about your way, but about what’s best for your baby.
